On October 10 and 11, 2024, the 33rd Annual Meeting of Scientific Initiation (EAIC) and the 13th Annual Meeting of Junior Scientific Initiation (EAIC JR) took place, with the theme: Science as a path to reducing inequality. The Annual Scientific Initiation Meeting is a multidisciplinary event whose main objective is to evaluate and disseminate the research carried out in the various areas of knowledge by the scholarship holders of the Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program.
The undergraduate students taking part in the GPnum: Enzo Martinez, Gustavo Henrique Beffa and Giovanna Gasparato presented their respective work and were present at the event.

The 45th CILAMCE took place between November 11 and 14, 2024. CILAMCE is a traditional international scientific event promoted by the Brazilian Association of Computational Methods in Engineering (ABMEC). It has been held regularly since 1977, with a focus on the advancement of basic scientific research and its applications in the areas of Science and Engineering, aiming to expand the frontiers of knowledge related to Computational Methods.
The technical program typically features world-renowned plenary speakers, several parallel mini-symposium sessions and a special student competition - the Agustín Ferrante Award - to recognize undergraduate students who demonstrate the potential for outstanding scientific achievement.
Researchers Prof. Dr. Carlos Humberto Martins and Prof. Dr. Alexandre Rossi not only attended the event, but also gave their respective presentations.
From September 11 to 13, 2024, the International Conference on Concrete Sustainability (ICCS) was attended by our external collaborating member Dr. Carlos Benedetty Torres and our coordinator Dr. Carlos Humberto Martins. With the last edition of the conference taking place in Prague and being a success, the conference returns, only this time at the University of Minho, Portugal.
The aim of the conference was to bring together engineers, researchers, academics, producers, investors and developers to exchange and discuss their innovative approaches and ideas with a focus on sustainable concrete structures and their contribution to sustainable development goals. Conference topics included design and assessment, advanced materials, modeling and analysis, durability, life cycle design, lifetime management and care, resilience, disassembly, reuse and recycling, innovation in buildings and civil structures, and case studies.
From September 4 to 6, 2024, the Congress of Numerical Methods in Engineering took place at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. The event is in its 12th edition and is held every two years and is jointly organized by the Portuguese Association for Theoretical, Applied and Computational Mechanics (APMTAC) and the Spanish Society for Numerical Methods in Engineering (SEMNI). The 2024 edition was attended by our Coordinator Prof. Dr. Carlos Humberto Martins, and was a meeting point for researchers and technicians from both countries, as well as for the Latin American community.
From June 5 to 7, 2024, the 10th International Conference on Steel and Aluminum Structures (ICSAS 2024) took place. Professors Dr. Carlos Humberto Martins and Dr. Felipe Piana Vendramell and member Me. Douglas Fernandes attended the event, which was attended by designers and manufacturers of steel and aluminum structures, trade associations, design engineers, steel fabricators, architects, owners or developers of steel and aluminum structures, researchers, academics and graduate students.
With the guidance of Prof. Dr. Carlos Humberto Martins, students Nicollas Nathann Lima Martins and Gabriel Jackson Chagas were able to carry out a scientific initiation project using the Kit Mola to learn civil engineering in high school.
From this project, the students not only had contact with the Kit Mola but also learned basic concepts of statics, which are essential in civil engineering. With the results of this project, the teacher and his students are competing for a junior scientific initiation award, which will take place in Brasilia.
The XIII EPCC (International Meeting of Scientific Production), which took place from October 24 to 26, 2023, with the aim of promoting the exchange of technical and scientific knowledge developed by the academic community of various higher education institutions in the country and abroad, was attended by our master's students who went to exhibit their work.
Between October 18 and 21, 2023, the 64th Brazilian Concrete Congress took place in the city of Florianópolis, at the CentroSul convention center
The largest national technical forum for debates on concrete technology and its construction systems was attended by our doctoral students.
The 6th Workshop in Civil Engineering, which took place at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFScar) on October 9, 10 and 11, 2023, in the Bento Prado Junior Amphitheatre, featured a lecture by Valtencir Zucolotto on the topic of scientific writing using chatGPT.
The event was also attended by our doctoral students, who presented their respective work in their area of specialty.
The 5th edition of the Doctoral Congress in Engineering took place on June 15 and 16, 2023 at the prestigious University of Porto (UP), more specifically at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in Portugal.
382 papers were accepted, reviewed by 151 reviewers and presented in the 15 symposia that took place. Professors Dr. Alexandre Rossi and Dr. Carlos Humberto Martins not only attended the congress but also presented their work.
Held from November 22 to 24, 2022, at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the XV Ibero-American Mechanical Engineering Congress (CIBIM) gave researchers from the Ibero-American community the opportunity to present their work in the different areas of mechanical engineering. Professor Dr. Carlos Humberto Martins attended the congress and presented his work.
