Brazilian Congress of Steel and Composite Structures
I BRAZILIAN CONGRESS ON COMPOSITE STRUCTURES
The I CBEM was the brainchild of researchers from different universities who carry out research in the field of composite structures.
The I Brazilian Congress of Mixed Structures (I CBEM) was promoted by professors and researchers from Brazilian universities and took place at the State University of Maringá (UEM) in Maringá, Paraná from April 15 to 17, 2024.
The main objective of the I CBEM was to disseminate the latest research and innovations in this type of construction, seeking to contribute to the promotion, consolidation and expansion of the sector in the Brazilian market. The congress was a privileged venue for the exchange of ideas and experiences between the various parties involved in the design and execution of mixed structures (steel and concrete; wood and concrete) as well as in research, innovation and teaching activities in the field.
It should be noted that the I CBEM was the first Brazilian congress in the field of mixed structures, and will present the latest research, innovations and achievements in this type of construction. There is no other Brazilian congress dedicated solely to debating mixed steel and concrete structures and mixed wood and concrete structures. It was attended by 128 participants from all five regions of Brazil, representing 41 higher education institutions in Brazil and abroad, such as: CEFET-MG, EESC-USP, Faculdade Luciano Feijão, FGV, IPOS Especialização, MACKENZIE, PUC-RJ, UEFS, UEM, UEMA, UERJ, UFAL, UFBA, UFC, UFCAT, UFES, UFMG, UFOP, UFPA, UFPR, UFRGS, UFRJ, UFSCAR, UFU, UFV, UnB, UNDB, UNESP, UNICESUMAR, UNIFACS, UNIFATECIE, UNIFESSPA, UNILA, UNINGÁ, UNOPAR, UPF, USP, UTFPR, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidad de Luxemburgo, Universidad de Ingeniería e Tecnologia (Peru) and Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (Portugal). In addition, it was attended by professionals from major companies in the construction and structural analysis sectors, such as: GERDAU, 3D EXPERIENCE, AG Projetos Estruturais, ArcelorMittal, CAT Engenharia, DFS Engenharia, EDC Tecnologia, ISI Senai, Santana Engenharia and SolarMaxx.

Sustainability
The I CBEM will be important for consolidating mixed structures in the Brazilian construction sector, as it is the first Brazilian congress in this area. In addition, the congress is necessary for the dissemination of national and international research in this area. With the development of various research projects in this area, Brazilian researchers and companies in the sector need a suitable congress to discuss the main innovations in this sector. Thus, the I CBEM will fill the gap in the lack of national congresses that promote discussion on mixed structures.

IDEALIZATION
On the first day of the Brazilian Congress of Composite Structures (CBEM), in the morning, all the participants signed in and then went to the auditorium, where they were welcomed by Master's student Vinícius Parolin, who gave a musical performance. After the reception, there was an opening ceremony, attended by members of the DEC, CTC, PPG and Vice-Rector of the State University of Maringá, followed by lectures of the professors PhD Ricardo Hallal Fakury and PhD Silvana de Nardin. In the afternoon, technical sessions were held in person and remotely, as well as mini-courses on ABAQUS and writing scientific articles.
On the 2nd day of the Brazilian Congress of Composite Structures (CBEM), the morning began with lectures of the professors PhD Luciano Rodrigues. O. de Lima and PhD A. Fernanda. G. Calenzani. In the morning, technical sessions were held in person and remotely. In the early afternoon, the companies Gerdau and Dassault Systèmes gave their lectures and then the mini-courses on ABAQUS and Origin began, thus ending the 2nd day of the congress.
On the 3rd and final day of the Brazilian Congress of Composite Structures (CBEM), the professors PhD Flávio de Andrade e Silva and PhD Pablo Augusto Krahl held lectures at the beginning of the morning, followed by the international lecture by PhD Paulo Alexandre Golçalves Piloto, directly from the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) remotely. Then, in the afternoon, the technical sessions were held remotely and, finally, there were mini-courses in ABAQUS and advanced programming in HP.
